Free to play games are awesome when you are Gaming on a Budget and Hearthstone is doubly so, because anything you can buy with real money, you can also acquire in game by...playing, so cash isn't the ultimate advantage.
For those who played Magic: the Gathering, it will be somewhat reminiscent, but definitely a more casual version.
Well, yesterday the first expansion for Hearthstone came out: Curse of Naxxramas.
There are 5 wings in this expansion and each wing is running $6.99 or 700 in game gold. (Less if you buy multiple wings, at once, with real game money.) But the first wing, "The Arachnid Quarter" is free as long as you play during the launch event. (Which Blizzard says, "...will last roughly a month or so.")
